Hi ya all,
I've been all over the internet trying to find out why my Lily has Hives. While serching, and talking with my Vet. the subject of protien came up several times. It took that several times to make that light turn on in my head as to what was happening. Since I've gotten my new boy Dallas I've been to the barn every day (I board) and have been giving Lily her supplement of a scoop of Purina Senior every day. Generally she got the Senior only four times a week. So I effectly increased her protien intake by 1/3 without even thinking. STUPID STUPID STUPID.Purina Senior Feed is 16% protien, I'm thinking that is a pretty high percentage for an older horse and I'm wondering why a company as reputable as Purina would choose to have that high a protien count. Any thoughts on this matter ????

By the way when I stopped giving her the extra feed the hives were gone in 3 days. She stopped itching in one day .......But it took a month for me to get smart....POOR LILY

thanks for listening Mastador
