>>Why would I board my horse if I have the place for him here, just no roundpen?? Would you really want to pay $350 a month for a place to keep your horse when he has a place at home?

Yes, I would, if it meant being able to effectively work with the horse until I had him safe enough to bring home and work with him. Yes, you could save up the funds for a round pen over a few months instead of paying board but that's a few more months of him not being adequately worked with. I actually know several people who board even though they have places of their own to keep horses. Most of the time the reason is because the boarding facilities have better working areas - be it arenas or round pens, wash racks, etc. Sometimes the reason is as simple as the social atmosphere of having other riders and horse folks around to help out, give advice, or just to bounce ideas off of and do things with. Not to mention that in many cases, boarding with other horses can be a big social benefit to a horse, because they learn to deal with the hussle and bussle of other horses doing other things all day long, loud noises, people all over, etc.
