I have a 16 yr old chestnut mare, she has been showing signs of distress when she is externally examined by her abdomen toward her flank (both sides). She is sound when lunged and shows no signs of colic or other digestive related problems, appetite is normal water intake is normal. Our vet diagnosed her as having stomach ulcers, he did no internal examination and determined this from blood work alone. He has her on sulcarafate as well as Pro-bi(powder). I am concerned that we may have a misdiagnosis on our hands and would really appreciate any information anyone can offer.
Thank You
