There are several good feeds on the market. Here we use Purina Strategy which is high in fat. Our one thoroughbred mare does really well on it, as do all our apps, from the babies to the broodmares. It's a nicely balanced feed too, so you don't get the energizer bunny effect even when you feed a good bit of it, which we do during the mare's lactation and during show season for our halter horses.



Next time you have your vet out, ask them about what they would recommend as most vets have had nutritional training.
