The key to teaching any thing to your horse is to always end on a possitive note. If you get her to side pass just one or two steps be sure to praise her and then let her walk away for a few more minutes before going back to the exercise. I have always found it easier to work with the horse facing a fence so that she wont be able to walk forward. If she tends to move her front end faster than the back end move your leg pressure just a bit back so as to cue her to move her hind end. Same goes in opposite if she moves her hind end faster than the front. I hope this helps some. I find it hard to teach through words only. I am better at teaching face to face so I can demonstrate and help work out problem areas. I am now a certified instructor, but I havent done much instructing yet. haha.. Good luck.
