Ouch, that do hurt dont it! I agree, its a bid for attention. Children want to play, NOW! Maybe some playtime before you start other chores would help. I remember as a kid, one of the first lessons I learned was don't ever turn your back on certain horses...now if it was a cat or dog, I would say put them down and ignore them when they bite, but somehow I dont think that would work with a colt.
