As I'm sure many of you know... almost 100,000 horses are slaughtered every year in this country, because their skin is a delicacy in Japan, as well as other meats. People are beginning to come together and take a stand. The way they are killed is absolutly horrifying, and many of them are so young, as soon as they stop winning races, they meet this terrible fate. 1986 Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand was brutally slaughtered and sold to Japanese markets. There are already a few senators coming forward and stating that they want this $40 million a year business shut down. PLEASE... if you can.. write letters to your congressmen, OR.. you can send letters or cards to the National Horse Protection Coalition, P.O. Box 1252, Alexandria, VA 22313 and please tell them your name, and how strongly you feel, they are trying to pass an Act protecting our precious horses. If anyone would also pass this information along, we need to spread the word. The NHPC is asking for voices in this issue, and they will make all voices heard on capitol hill. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
