That question is a lot trickier than it appears I would recommend having at least an acre per cow but there's leeway there depending on what is on the acreage. If you don't have a lot of good quality and hardy grass, you'll need more acreage, or you'll be feeding a lot of hay. Also, if you're in an area that gets hit by rainy seasons or droughts, you'll have problems with the cattle overgrazing or crushing tender plants into the mud.

The best source of information for things like this is your local ag. extension agency because they will be familiar with your weather and grasses!
