unless you have a horse for it to run with. Goats are a herd animal and will be unhappy alone. If you are not planning on breeding, whethers would be fine. They are usually cheaper then does and you would get the same enjoyment out of them. Do not get a buck unless you have a sizeable herd that you are planning to breed.
