Red-kneed behavior.

Does my Mexican Red-Kneed need a hide? He's not excavating anymore. Should the hide be deep?

He's about a year old now, and molted a day or two ago. Today when I went in to remove the molt, I saw that he had spun a gossamer circular web blanket to shed on. That's very interesting.

Also, today I put him in a tank that is about twice as large as the one he's used to. I think he does not like it yet, but that should be no surprise. I switched from using dinner plates for watering, to using a suitable container. The crickets can't get under it so easily.

I had to pick him up to make the habitat switch, and it was surprisingly easy. No rearing back with fangs extended, just rubbing his hairs off pretty rapidly. I was surprised at how firm and handleable this tarantula really is. I had been a bit afraid I would squash something important. He just constantly fascinates me.
