Hey all. Haven't posted much on this forum (though I post extensively on the reptile page) but figured its about time I share my B.smithi pics here.
I had this guy (or gal..no clue on the sex) for about two years now...since he was a spiderling...first winter he didn't eat much and I was sure he would die...as I couldn't find small crickets at the local store (and no point ordering 500 of 1/8th inch crickets when I only had the spider small enough to eat crickets that size) but I managed to pick up some flightless fruit flies and he flourished on those. Once he was big enough to take larger crickets, he grow fast...This past winter I up sized his cage about 4 times..now he's in a good size cage which should keep him comfortable till I can buy something bigger.
Below I read Mexican red knees are arboreal? I haven't heard this mentioned before..(and I do admit I haven't done extensive research on them, mostly enough to know how to set up the cage....but it seems to me the setup was more terrestrial in nature) Looks like I am doing more research on smithi's.
Anyway, long intro done, here's the pics. One is about three months ago, the other in early June
