Nice spiders. I'd suggest changing the substrate to somethign that will hold moisture better and support a burrow, like peat moss or coconut coir. Those are the most commonly used substrates today and are the best for the Ts health. Also it should be much deeper. The empty space between the substrate and the lid should be not much more than the legspan of the tarantula. For one, this gived the T a deeper substrate so it can burrow and it lessen the distance of falling if the T decides to climb the side of the tank. They do every now and then. A fall of 6" or more has the potential to be fatal if they rupture their abdomen.
