Hi all-- First of all, I really appreciate any help that anyone can give me! My husband found a Chinese Praying Mantis at work about two months ago and brought her home. She lives in a 20 gallon long aquarium with a screen top and eats gut-loaded crickets. I know that she may not last much longer due to their lifespans, but she is in a very warm and humid room (indoor pond) and she seems to be enjoying life to the fullest. Got a surprise today -- an eggsack! No wonder she was getting so rotund. I'm now terrified that these little guys will hatch and it will be too cold in coastal Virginia to release them. What do folks do in this situation? Being that the room is so warm and cozy, will the eggsack hatch sooner, rather than later? How long do you think it will take? I am waiting for the sack to harden before moving it to a better spot, as the screen top may allow them to escape. Again, I appreciate any help! Thank you. --Melinda
