Hissers can be kept in a glas aquarium as long as you have a tight screen cover. I coat the top of the glass with about 2 inches of vaseline, as they can climb right up glass. They are fed a dry cat or dog food with high protien (30%) that I grind up with a coffe mill or food processor. Chopped apples and carrots and oranges seem to be their favorite. There are all kinds of substrate to use, or you don't need any. Cedar is toxic. I use coconut fiber for my colony of 60, but once they start breeding I won't use any. There's lots of useful info out there.
