Having numerous cats and all go to the vet for annual check-up, this is what I've learned:
Canned contains more fat, so kitty likes it better, but dry is good for them. Most feed a combo of both. Mine get their 'daily' Fancy Feast and I free feed dry food. They all like the dry, too. Vet tech said meat should be first ingredient (Iams, Purina One, Eukanuba). Mine love that new Purina Indoor! I spoil mine and free feed a few different kinds. Just leaned at last visit that there is 'dental defense technology' in all Iams foods that is equivalent to brushing your cat's teeth 3 times a week! Unlike other 'dental' foods that only affect the teeth the cat chews it with...and some cats barely chew their food. So, you can be sure I got some and they all like it.
