First of all the 9 lives isn't helping (this is coming from a veterinary technition) it has almost no nutritional value. Second, How much are you feeding him? An adult cat should eat between a 1/3 and a 1/2 cup of food per DAY. It doesn't matter if you want to spilt into two portions, but he really shouldn't be eating any more than that. If he is, then tapper him down gradually. You can actually make him sick if you drop the amount of food he is eating to fast.
