First I guess I have a question. Why do you want a cat, if it is to be outside by itself and not with you? Since you have already decided that is what you want, I think it should be a cat who was already outside and is used to it and is 1 year old or above. Kittens are too small to defend themselves and unless they were raised outside, they have not a clue what is dangerous and what isn't. Expect only 5 or so years out of your pet because that is about the longest an outside cat lives as a rule. Also, make sure that your cat has all his/her shots and is spayed/neutered.
