Posted by: KookyKat at Tue Dec 20 15:08:53 2005 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by KookyKat ] We have three cats, and our first cat has always loved to scratch up our couch and carpet. I would never even consider declawing our cats, and hoped to modify her behavior in a more positive way. I had read that taking the cat to her scratching post when she is scratching inapropriatly and making the motions with her paws while praising her may do the trick. I started doing this with her even though she was clearly unimpressed. Nothing seemed to change but I stuck with it for 6 long months, and for the last week she has only used her scratcher! She receives much praise when she has used it and seems pleased. So it is possible, just takes a little patience! [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Show Entire Thread ] | ||
