Seem to remember a neighbor growing up that used mothballs in his garden, but they are so toxic....

A solid squirt from the garden hose would do wonders I'm sure.

I wonder if you can get scent of a big animal. Deer scent is sold, I wonder what else you can get? Might be less messy then "gifts" from the zoo - if you could even get them.

We didn't have to worry about the cats in the garden when I was a kid - the sand box was just a few feet away. Cats always go where it feels good to the paws. I'd be tempted to dump a bag of sand in the neighbor's yard!
