Hello everyone, this has been such a tragic, and odd day for me. Thismorning I had an appointment for Shania to be checked over because she was acting very isolating lately and I just had a feeling she wasn't right. I noticed that for at least the past 24 hours she would not eat, drink, or move. After a day of exams, X-Rays, and IV fluids, I recieved the diagnosis. She had an extremely massive tumor in her abdomen. She had been suffering with this for who knows how long, and it was very advanced. I was told that a surgery would give her a fraction of a chance, and I made the hard decision to end her pain. I felt horrible, and am still wondering now if I made the right decision... I just didn't want to put her through such a serious and painful surgery that would not guarantee her survival. I went to my mother's house immediatly afterwards to talk and clear my head. Maybe it was just my emotions getting the best of me, but I ended up bringing home one of the two abandoned kittens she had rescued. I have never been able to go out and get a pet so soon after one had passed, but this seemed right. There was a void that I needed to fill... and though I am not done grieving for Shania, I welcome my new kitten into my home and heart. Today I learned the importance of regular check ups, and following your gut instinct. If she had been brought in a while ago this may have been avoided. The new boy's name is Atticus, he's 5 months old, orange long hair, very cute. Belle is slightly irate with me but she got over it before, she will again. Scotty loves him already, and is trying his hardest to get him to play... but Atticus is still a little nervous. Thank you all for listening... and understanding.
