>>I'm going to pick them up on Saturday. I was told that the mother is a tortoiseshell and the male is calico (I know, it's very unlikely that he is). I'm just wondering if these kittens could be torbies? Can anybody help me?
>>

The one on the left looks like she's a tortoiseshell tabby a.k.a. "torbie". She has the tortoiseshell coloring and the tabby stripes.

I can't see any tortoiseshell in the one on the right however it may just be the picture. If she has the reds of the tortoiseshell and stripes, she would also be a tortoiseshell tabby which is called a "torbie".

My KatyKatt is a torbie too. She's the gray stripped one on the left. She has the gray/brown stripes of a tabby and the coloring of the tortoiseshell.

You have some adorable little kitties there!
