Regular fluids are a very common course of action for CRF. Vets encourage it. I haven't had to force feed Pookey yet, but I do give him a very low dose of appetite stimulant every couple days that seems to work well. He started lost interest in food without Stanley and his appetite comes and goes. I don't think it is associated with anything medical at this point. He eats on his own, but not quite as much as he should to maintain weight. I give him about 1/4 of a Cyproheptadine pill very other day and it works (you can give one to two full pills daily, so a much lower than normal does works on him). If you haven't tried an appetite stimulant, something to look into.

Stanley had CRF and anemia associated with it. He was doing well for quite a while, holding his own with weight and blood work and eating well, then suddenly, he lost a lot of weight and interest in normal things. He became listless. For about a week, I worked with the vet and tried varous things, but nothing worked and I knew it was time. When they lose interest in normal day to day activities, it is a big sign they aren't doing well.
