How can I teach 'off limits' on a strange place?

I love my cats. Love, love, love them. However, I also love my 6 month old cornsnake, and lately the two have been conflicting. The trouble has been my cat, Theta, sitting on the top of the snake cage, especially at inconvinent times (like during feeding). Also, Theta sits and stares at the tank for hours, waiting for Nora (the snake) to come out of hiding. I usually don't have a problem teaching them off limits locations, but this is a little difficult as I don't want to impose too much stress on my snake or disturb her environment. Suggestions?

As a side note, Theta is not on my list of favorite kitties right now anyway. She's part siamese and loves to bring me little trinkets from all over the house. Tonight, she brought me a scorpion while I was sleeping, and the darn thing crawled in bed with me and stung me. I know that Theta totally adores me, but sometimes I wish she would tone it down a little ;o)
