I am assuming he is in the cage for safety reasons so he doesn't reinjure the leg. If this is the case, perhaps you can figure out a way to get him out and into an area of the house where he can't jump up and hurt himself and see if you can re-socialize him with his sister.

Also you might try getting a Comfort Zone plug-in with Feliway (they are pricey!) and put that near him while he gets well.
