You may have to ask about some anti-anxiety meds for either the agressive male or the timid female. Sometimes these help straighten out a bad relationship. Also you should ask your vet about consulting an animal behaviorist to see if something can be done. Generally chasing away the agressor will only make the problem worse since cats just flat out create their own hierarchies.
