sounds like that is his territory and his females.esp if he is maturing around 2-3 years old. i can tell you my experience with our cats. we had 4 cats in the house then decided to adopt 2 kittens. this was 3 years ago. they were litter mates. after they turned 2 they started to dislike each other. it got worse when jaffa became sick and had to go to 2 different vets. one a e-vet then our regular vet. once we got her back home jazz, her litter mate..(all our cats are females) would not except her back into the house hold. she would SCREAM at the very sight of her. we think it was becasue she smelled different being at 2 different vets.
one thing i've always heard is to take a towel an rub it on both cats. we did this with all the cats though so they would all smell alike. also rubbed the same towel on places where they slept.it helped a little but jazz still wouldn't accept her back. its taken at least 6 months for everyone to get back in to their 'place' in the pack.
i would still keep the kitten seperate. we had to keep jazz and jaffa seperated for a while. we would let one out while the other was in a room with door closed. they could smell under the door but not hurt each other.
they seem pretty good now. they will be 4 years old in march. jazzy still screams sometimes at the sight of her but they there are times where she an jaffa are sleeping on top of each other. go figure.
