a week really isn't that long for them to get aquanted. i would keep them seperated for longer and also till you are absolutely sure the new kitten doesn't have any parasites.

just becasue 'all seems well' after only a week, it can take a couple weeks at least for them to be comfortable with each other. esp since you say the resident kitty hisses still at the new comer. just my 2 cents.
