I realized that the mom cat must be trying to re-establish her dominant role for some reason. She is the one instigating the fight. They have always gotten along great and nothing has changed in or around the house. She is not otherwise acting as if she is hurt or ill. She is eating well and using the litter box regularly. She went after her kitten 5 times yesterday and I ended up seperating them for the night. After they were seperated one sat on one side of the door and the other on the other side of the door, both crying as if they couldn't wait to be by each other. Now they are both curled up on the bed together sleeping. If any one has any suggestions as to what I can do to for them please let me know.
