Ok.. we've had Scotty for a while now, and I am having a slight issue. I know that it is very normal for cats to be inrigued by birds, but I guess I didn't know just how much so. I have had this cockatiel for three and a half years, Belle has never paid the slightest attention to him, he used to come out all the time and prance around and spend time with us, she never cared. One night.. he was a naughty boy and while I was putting him back in his cage he flew out into the living room and Scotty went absolutly nuts... I mean running up walls and going after him with everything he had, even though I was screaming and swatting at him. My poor bird is shut away in the toy room, we cannot leave the door open, Scotty is on that cage. Sometimes I will put Scotty downstairs and put the lock on the cat door and bring Bird in to play with us, and he literally rams himself into the plastic as hard as he can because he can see us through it. He will do literally anything to get this bird and I feel terrible because we have had Bird for so long it's unfair to him now that he is shut away. I really love Scotty but I cannot help feeling a little resentful and mad at him because of this, even though I know it isnt his fault. Is there anything I can do to try to make him want the bird less? This is really bothering me... but it could also be that he is still young... I just don't know what to do... I feel bad for both Bird and Scotty.
