Hi There,

You really should have a carrier or crate for your kitty to travel in that is large enough for a small litterbox. Even though some cats may travel well and enjoy it, you really don't need or want a loose cat in the car. It would be way too dangerous.

I am against using tranquilizers for traveling because you don't know how they will affect your cat. If there is a problem, you wouldn't know how to deal with it. Cats can act adversely to any drug, especially when they are already worked up. Few cats would feel relaxed and safe during such a trip.

If I were moving and only had one cat, I would fly and not take any side trips. I know you want to do some visiting, but that will probably be hard on your kitty.

Whatever you decide, Good luck, and please let us know when you arrive in your new home!

Regards,
PHKitkat
