Hadn't ever considered this question! Have had pets since I was extremely small. A dog first and then my first calico kitten at age four. Have always had both dogs and cats but don't plan to get another dog when these two go to the bridge (which we hope is still several years away). Cats are more independent and less trouble (to my way of thinking....no walking or doggy smells in the house) and I can't imagine ever being able to sleep without a furry little body somewhere against me...head, knees, crook of my elbow, wherever they decide to snuggle! Have always maintained that if I were ever in a coma, hubby should bring a cat to purr in my ear and I'd respond to that if anything! Katc
