If I were you, I wouldn't take in the unneutered male, no matter what the circumstances. There's enough unwanted kittens in the world, and I doubt you'll be able to keep your unspayed female from getting pregnant.

Also, I'd worry about him spraying in the house.

I'm sure your friend could find someone else to care for him until she's ready to take him back. Don't feel bad about saying no -- you have to do what's right for both you and your cat!
