4 weeks is a long time and they should have at least been civil to each other by now. I'm guessing that the rescue is trying to intimidate the younger resident and trying to "take over" the territory as his/her own. I would start from scratch (no pun intended) again. Separate them completely for a few days, rub each cat with a towel and then exchange the towels so that they know who their dealing with and they can get used to each others scent. Then give them very shosrt supervised visits, don't interfere, let them sdo what they may, but make the visits brief. Slowly extend the supervised visits. You may also waht to try some of the flower essences available that will help calm the situation. Not necessarily Bach's Rescue Remedy but maybe Holly or Vine essence. www.bytheplanet.com Holly and vine are for specific behavioral problems such as jealousy and suspicions and/or to give a dominant cat feelings of security. Rescue Remedy has several essences in it and is primarily for very scared cats. Let us know how it turns out!
