Ever have a cat who buries his litterbox treasures as if they were gold? Does your kitty think she's an ancient pyramid builder?

I live with one of those. The only problem with these diligent cats is that in the process of building their pyramids, litter can get thrown out of the box and land everywhere! Some litter boxes come with little plastic pieces that slip under or next to the box to catch flying litter. If you've got a serious digging cat though, these might not catch much.

In my house, we use a plain old doormat under the litterbox. This doesn't keep the litter IN the box, but it keeps it off the carpet. Easier to quickly vacuum too. And now that you can buy doormats in decorative colors and patterns, it's even nicer.

Please share any other suggestions or tips you may have here.
