Sometimes very obscure things can happen that can cause a cat to be anxious - once a broom falling over caused all sorts of problems in one household. So there is more than likely a recent underlying thing that has caused this that you probably don't understand.

Anyhow, since the cause is obviously a behavorial thing, the best thing to do is to try to re-train her to the litterbox. This involves putting her into a small room or large cage with just the litterbox, food and bedding until she manages to use the box. Then you try enlarging her area.

Feliway has worked well for me on flat surfaces - the bed in the guest room as a matter of fact. After you get the pee smell out with an enzyme cleaner, you just spritz a bit around in various spots on the bed. Also consider putting a few Comfort Zone plug-ins around the house.

If all else fails ask the vet about using Buspar or Prozac (most of what I have read favors Buspar, although the choice will be up to your vet). Usually a cat will "unlearn" the behavior when she feels less stress and the medication can be gradually withdrawn.

Good luck and best wishes on your up-coming marriage!

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!
