My 8 year old female was acting VERY mean when my 13 year old male would come home from the vet. Almost as if it was a new cat and she did not recognize him. Now I take both to the vet together, even if only one has to go. I ask the vet tech to pet the one that needs no attention at the appt. This way, their scent is the same upon return home. This has helped sooooo much. She still does not like him most of the time but she is not mean anymore. Just a quick "Leave me alone" hiss once in a while. I also tried rubbing a powder on them to cover the scent and giving baths, (Fun!) but keeping them together on outings helps best!
