It does sound medical, however, it could be behavioral. You stated you had your other furbaby put down. Was it due to illness? Possibly your kittie is grieving and was well aware of the sickness in your other one. THey are sensitive to those they bond with. So, rule out UTI or something medical then try using Feliway either spray or the plug in in the area most used by the cat. This will keep your kitty calm and make him/her feel safe again. I'm going through this with one of mine. I lost my first cat after 17 years and now my Bengal is urinating on anything soft. I'm not sure if it is the new kitten or medical, I'm waiting for the test result, but have used Feliway anyway until I know for sure.
