Hello,

We have a 6 year old male cat that wants to pee on everything. We think he is in competition with the other cats, who are mostly male. There are a lot of cats in our house, 6 to be specific, all male but one. What happens is that the older cat sprays to mark his territory because he cannot get along with the younger alpha-male. They are both in direct competition. Short of getting rid of the older cat, we don't know what else to do. They are starting to pee everywhere and it is getting pretty terrible. Everyday we clean up pee in a few spots. We have tried everything, from giving the older cat Buspar to using Nature's Miracle where they pee and trying to cover up the odors. We have also tried the feliway spray to no avail. The cat is just plain unhappy around the other cats and we think that he is the main culprit in the starting of the spraying.

Is there anything at all we could possibly do? It is really bad, I mean they pee on anything that is on the floor and there are days where I would probably feel little remorse for subjecting the cat to a cruel, painful, bloody death. (Don't worry, I really wont, it just seems appealing after you have cleaned up pee for the millionth time and your house starts to smell)

I really cannot seem to think of any other solution other than confining the cat to the basement (much to the dismay of my ferrets) or finding another home for him. He is a really sweet cat when he is not around other kitties, but in their presence he becomes really mean and won't even let you pet him.

So to recap, feliway does not work, cleaning the litterboxes often does not work, nature's miracle does not work, in fact, none of the solutions I've read so far work. Killing the cat would work though...... :P

The cat has been to the vet and does not seem to have a urinary tract infection. He is just really unhappy I think.

Any ideas other than finding him a new home? I'd really hate to do this to him, but then again I really hate wiping up pee off the hardwood floors everyday.

Any suggestions would be more than welcome!

Thanks!

Mark
