You mention your cat's age. Could it be the litter box location is no longer convenient, given her age? Are they too far away from where she hangs out? You may want to consider moving her boxes to the places where she's urinating, or at least closer. My boy is 14, and he is arthritic, so I've had to make some adjustments that I don't like, but work for him.

Also, there are new litter box types that have a "cutout" that goes to floor level. If kitty is having problems climbing in/out, you can find these new litter boxes that have easy access.

As for enyzme cleaners, here's my favorites:

Anti-Icky Poo
Simple Solution
Nature's Miracle
Cat Odor-Off

They all work really great. Anti-Icky Poo has an injector kit that may help rescue your carpeting, since you can inject the cleaner directly INTO the carpeting.

Good luck; keep us posted!

>>Thank you sooo much for responding. I have been up all night worrying about all of this. Would she suddenly want to use two litterboxes? She had done fine until about a year ago when all of this started. Maybe that is part of getting older and more finicky!
