Hi,
I have two six month old kittens (brother and sister).
I got them at 15 weeks and it took approx a month to get them both using the same litter tray. He was fine from the first day but she would poo and pee behind the T.V. and nowhere else.
I blocked up the T.V. and reduced her to one room with the litter tray and she seemed to take to it with no problems.
I gradually gave her access to more and more of the house and all seemed to be going really well.
About a week ago she suddenly reverted to pooing and peeing everywhere but the tray. If I try to put her in it she lashes out and runs away.
I have cleaned and deodorised every time she's made a mess and even used a deterrent spray. She now just finds another spot.
I have put a second tray in the house but all that happens is the boy uses both and she continues to go everywhere else.
I am taking her to the vet to make sure there is nothing sinister going on but am at a loss as to what to do next.
Could it be related to her brother using the tray? She is much smaller than him but certainly doesn't give in to him, in fact when they play she is often the more aggressive one.
She is also quite a shy cat and doesn't like to be picked up, but does love being stroked. He is the opposite and adores cuddles. Just wondering whether there could be an attention seeking element to it.
Any advice would be really appreciated
Many thanks
