Hi,

What you have to do first is rule out all the possible medical reasons for your cat to be peeing on the couch. At his age he is at high risk for diabetes, hyperthyroidism and kidney disease. All of these issues can cause a kitty to urinate outside of the litterbox.

You say your kitty is free of infection and stones. Has he had a recent urinalysis and full-body x-ray to rule out these conditions?

If you do decide to try a diaper on your cat, don't assume that he will tolerate it. Chances are that he won't. I think a far better option would be to confine him to a small room with a litterbox until he uses it regularly.

Please take your kitty in and let us know what the vet says.

Regards,
PHKitkat
