Hi,

The first thing you should do is have a urinalysis done on both cats to rule out the possibility of a urinary tract infection and/or crystals. If the UA's are normal, you might want to try a special litter known as Cat Attract. You can also get this product in a litter box additive.

Keep the litterboxes even cleaner and I would scrub them out weekly instead of monthly. Scooping once a day isn't enough even with just 2 cats. Try to do it three times every day.
