This is probably totally off the wall, but there are different degrees of deafness. The first thing that popped into my mind when I read this was, maybe for the first time he heard a sound . That sure would spook him and also have him looking around trying to figure out what it was. Yeah I know, probably far fetched.. I would have him vet checked....Shorty
