>>Lisa, I am just curious....no actually YOU are Curious....but that's neither here nor there.... ... do you get your syringes from the pharmacy or do you have a special place you order them from online? I use the little ones to administer hairball remedy to the ones who won't lick it willingly and also to give Casey his water. I can't seem to find a pharmacy that will let me buy them and I can't for the life of me remember where online I ordered my last batch from. I am finally getting down to the nitty gritty and would like to order another supply.
Because one of my cats takes oral medication, one syringe comes free with each bottle. I once had to replace it before refilling the medication, and my pharmacy told me that normally they charge for them, but they gave me that one for free.
States vary in their regulations for needles. Junkies have to go through elaborate lies and schemes to get new needles in some areas. I can't think of a good reason why an oral syringe would be regulated, but it's possible they are in your state. (That's the only reason I can think of the local pharmacies not selling them to you.) The "regular" pharmacies at chain stores in my area also sell oral syringes for children, but the dosage markings are too big to be practical for the small amount of medicine my cat gets each dose. They're also overpriced, but that's another story...
Check with your vet. You may be able to order a batch from her/him. Also, did you check the Drs. Foster and Smith catalog? They seem to have everything. I'd be surprised if they don't have oral syringes. If neither of these options work, let me know and I'll work on it. ----- PHCurious Cat Chat Host
