Somehow the cat has figured out that he is getting extra attention from you and even though it is negative, he still craves it. Locking him out of the room is the best answer right now. As soon as he gets disruptive, pick him up quietly and put him out of the room and close the door. Do not talk to him or even make eye contact with him if you can help it.

If the cat hasn't had a recent veterinary check up, it would be a wise thing to do this just to be sure there is no underlying medical reason for this behavior.
