Well...out of 8 kitties (5 of which are kittens), only 2 do not play with the water dish. Out of the 2 who don't play, one insists on us being her 'water boys', as she jumps on the counter and lets us know she wants us to run the faucet so she can drink. She does this all day!!! I think she is amused watching how well she trained us.

The kittens love to turn their water dish over, or splash it around. I used to think (before it was 6 doing it!) that the kitty had trouble seeing the water line in the dish and tried to move the water around so they knew how far the water sat in the dish....but since 6 are doing it, I have ruled out that theory (although it is a real issue for some kitties) and have come to the conclusion that some kitties are just plain old silly. Chances are, as they get older, they will grow out of it, but as kittens will be kittens...they have to play with anything! I finally got one of those dish sets (stainless steel) where 2 bowls sit in a wire holder, which makes it very hard to tip them over. They still try, and do get water splashed around....but at least the bowl stays put and the whole thing doesn't become upside down on the floor with a huge puddle around it.
