Cats are scent driven. This means that unlike humans, they recognize a person more by their scent than by their actual looks.
They love your smell! They love your smelly socks, panties and bras. Silly kitties. Samantha loves to stick her nose in my smelly armpit...yuck.
A human would never dream of going up and sniffing another person's butt but this is the first thing that a cat does when he/she sees another cat. My grandchildren used to giggle all the time when they first saw this 'cat butt sniffing' thing.
Everyday when I come home from work and kick off my shoes, Silly Samantha sticks her head into my shoe and kneads like there is no tomorrow. And on several occasions, I've seen Simba trying to steal my dirty panties or bra.
I've also read that cats adopt socks as their babies. These might have been females who were pregnant and then for some reason didn't fulfull their motherhood. Or perhaps, had kittens and they were separated from them at too early of an age. I really don't know the reasoning behind that but, whatever the reason, you just have to love them. They might think that we are silly for viewing them by looks rather than scent. ----- Ruby and the Kitties Simba, Samantha, Katrina & KatyKatt Meow!! Meow!! Meow!! Meow!!
