Just from personal experience, I had to lock my cat out of the bedroom at night every night until he was over a year old. He was too playful at night and would (playfully) attack my face when I tried to sleep. That's why I had to keep him out. He never freaked out about it. He whined a little at first at the door, but he got used to it. And he was 100 times more snuggly in the mornings when he saw me again.

He's older now and I don't have to lock him out. He no longer attacks my face. Occasionally he will attack a foot under the blanket but that's very very rare. He usually just snuggles up beside us and sleeps with us. (Or plays in the kitchen)
