All of the sudden my cat walked into the kitchen and started slowly stalking around with its ears sorta back and mouth open... like he was slowly pacing around trying to sniff something out... then he started breathing really heavy and kind of rapidly. He hissed at our bigger dog when she came to investigate the weirdness and the doxin was like terrified to go near the cat at all. his eyes were huge looking and honestly he looked possessed.
he did a weird growling howling noise a few times and acted really afraid of me & my husband... we managed to put him in the bedroom and he was sniffing at the dogs through the door then after a few minutes of us talking to him and petting him he walked away all slow still then a split second later he was normal - u could see his posture was back to relaxed his eyes were normal and his breathing was normal.
i have had alot of cats in my life and never seen this.
we got the cat about a year ago as a kitten and him and the doxin are basically inseperable buddies. we had to adopt my grandfathers german shep. when he passed a few months ago but the cat has been adjusting well - still gets a little on edge if the dogs are tearing through the house, but normally he is really relaxed around her and has on occasion curled up on the floor next to her.

do cats have panic attacks?
i have no clue what happened i dont remember hearing any commotion but its possible that the dog could have startled him, thought i doubt it.

any clues !?

thanks!

beth
