My 15 yr old domestic shorthair was diagnosed with kidney disease two yrs. ago. They also advised a low protein diet, she hated the canned prescription stuff, refused it, got skeletally skinny. I started cooking her baked chicken which I put in the food processor with either grated raw zucchini or canned whole kernel corn, some organic baby food squash and a big dollop of nutritional yeast flakes. She has regained her weight and is a sassy girl two yrs later. Have her kidney values changed? I don't know, haven't bothered to check as she has never looked better in her life.
